Arrive late – up until 60 days

    If you are unable to start your Nido stay due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in the Netherlands or your home country, you will not be charged for your unused room.
    The ‘free late arrival’ period (max. 60 days) will begin on your contract start date and will continue up until the date the relevant lockdown restriction has been lifted or your University opens the course on campus. 
  • Students affected by COVID-19 restrictions in any of the following ways will be able to take advantage of this policy:
    • You are not allowed to leave your home country due to your home country government travel restrictions; 
    • You are unable to enter the Netherlands due to the Netherlands travel restrictions; 
    • You have a postponed Semester 1 course start date; 
    • Your University has switched to 100% e-learning for Semester 1. 

 

Arriving after 60 days? We’re here for you. 
  • If you are unable to start your Nido stay any later than 60 days following your contract start date, you will not be charged for the first 60 days of your lease agreement. However, the original terms of your lease agreement will resume on the 61st day which means you will need to pay for your stay from that day onwards.
  • We understand this crisis has impacted many of you financially and we remain committed to supporting our students as much as we can during this time. For any students facing financial hardship, we are here to listen and we will do everything we can to try and help. Please contact your Nido team, they will carefully review each situation on a case by case basis.
  • As part of this commitment to helping where we can financially, if required, we will provide tenants with the option of finding a new tenant to take over their lease. This can be at any point during the year and the Nido team will try to help as much as possible.  

 

Course cancelled? Don’t pay! 
  • Has your course changed to online learning for semester 1, 2, 3 or maybe even all 3? 
  • Has your course been cancelled? 

Not to worry, you will not be liable for any charges against your lease fees if your course in cancelled. To be eligible for this policy you need to inform us in writing by the 14th August 2020 latest.

Due to COVID-19 lockdown measures I’m unable to move in to my Nido Room. I might arrive late, what should I do?  

If you are unable to start your Nido stay due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in the Netherlands or your home country, for up to the first 60 days you will not be charged for your unused room. To be eligible for this policy you need to inform us in writing by the 14th August 2020 latest via e-mail to your residence mailbox, either Groningen@nidostudent.com or Utrecht@nidostudent.com.

   

How do I know I will be considered for the flexible start date policy based on the lockdown measures? 

Students affected by COVID-19 restrictions in any of the following ways will be able to take advantage of this policy:

  • You are not allowed to leave your home country due to your home country government travel restrictions; 
  • You are unable to enter the Netherlands due to the Netherlands travel restrictions; 
  • You have a postponed Semester 1 course start date; 
  • Your University has switched to 100% e-learning for Semester 1. 

 

What type of proof do I need to provide? 

Any official communication from your university confirming that your course is delayed or cancelled. Or any official information from your home country that you are unable to travel to the the Netherlands due to COVID-19. 

 

What should I do if my course has been cancelled or changed to online learning for at least the whole of Semester 1?

What happens to my contract and start date when my course date in Semester 1 is changes or delayed by my course provider?  

If your course is postponed from its official 20/21 start date, and you are unable to start your Nido stay, you will not be charged for your unused room. The ‘free late arrival’ period (max. 60 days) will begin on your contract start date and will continue up until the date the relevant lockdown restriction has been lifted or your University opens the course on campus. 

 

What happens to my booking if I can only arrive after the end of the 60 day period?  

If you are unable to start your Nido stay any later than 60 days following your contract start date, you will not be charged for the first 60 days of your lease agreement. However, the original terms of your lease agreement will resume on the 61st day which means you will need to pay for your stay from that day onwards. We understand this crisis has impacted many of you financially and we remain committed to supporting our students as much as we can during this time. Therefore, if you are affected by the 60+ days policy, you do have the option to find a replacement to take over on your lease agreement. For any students facing financial hardship, we are here to listen and we will do everything we can to try and help. Please contact your Nido team, they will carefully review each situation on a case by case basis. 

 

I want to book but don’t know if I will be able to start uni in September or October, when do I need to make payments?  

The first instalment is not due until the 14th August 2020, therefore all you will need to do is pay the one month damage deposit to confirm your booking with us.
